Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls®, is the largest humanitarian aid project of Buckner International of Dallas, Texas. This initiative provides new shoes and socks to orphans and vulnerable children in the United States and throughout the world.
When you donate new shoes through Buckner, they will be received by one of the world’s most vulnerable children. And while Shoes for Orphan Souls serves children all over the world, 20 percent of the shoes donated stay right here in the United States, offering hope to children in urban communities.
Since 1999, Buckner has distributed more than 4 million pairs of new shoes and socks to children in 83 countries.
The process is simple:
- Purchase a new pair of shoes (sturdy athletic shoes are best)
- Include a new pair of socks
- Include a handwritten note from you – or your child – to the child who will receive the shoes
- Take the shoes to a Heartfelt Radio collection point
“In Guatemala, I was finding that for many of the children – some as old as 7 or 8 – this was the first pair of new shoes they had ever received” Mark Zimmerman said. “As hard as it was to think about that, seeing the joy these kids experienced when I put the shoes on their feet… I’ll never forget those faces.”
