From April 25th through May 8th, Heartfelt Radio listeners responded to the call from Buckner International’s Shoes for Orphan Souls ministry.
“Our listeners are so ministry focused,” said WKJA General Manager Mark Channon “that we had barely mentioned the drive on the air, and the shoes started coming in!”
Heartfelt Radio’s Program and Business Manager, Denise Pennington, said that the giving went even deeper.
“We had eight area churches, and two parachurch ministries step up to be collection sites.” Pennington said, “That took the shoe campaign to another level of partnership.”
With the Lord’s help, Heartfelt Radio’s listening family contributed:
- 701 pairs of shoes
- 444 pairs of socks
- 52 pairs of shoelaces
Shawn Spurrier from Shoes for Orphan Souls’ informed Heartfelt Radio during the final week of the campaign that our listener’s donations would bring joy and renewed hope to a town in rural Guatemala in Central America.
“That’s exciting news,” said WKJA’s Mark Zimmerman, “because now we know where to focus our prayers later this summer.”
