Mark Channon answered God’s call to come to Heartfelt Radio after a diverse management career in Connecticut.  He spent 27 years at the oldest continuously published newspaper in America, The Hartford Courant.  A graduate of Connecticut School of Broadcasting, Mark spent 30 years as a jazz radio host at WWUH.  Simultaneously, he was the Operations Director at WAPJ while also being the Station Manager at Connecticut’s oldest and largest Christian radio station, WIHS.

Additionally, he served as House and Volunteer Relations Manager at the historic Warner Theatre in Torrington, Connecticut.  Mark has produced more than 50 concerts in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York with some of the world’s leading commercial, college and military contemporary big bands.

Mr. Channon is a recipient of The Commander’s Award for Public Service from the United States Army and is an honorary member of the premier big band of the United States Air Force, the Airmen of Note in Washington, DC.  He has emceed at numerous jazz festivals and concerts, including the Airmen of Note’s 2019 and 2020 Jazz Heritage Series concerts heard on radio outlets worldwide.  He has written liner notes for several jazz artists’ recordings that are in international distribution.

Mark trusted Christ as Savior on August 5th, 1967 at Word of Life Inn in Schroon Lake, NY.  Since then, he has served in church leadership roles including deacon, church treasurer and pulpit supply.  He met his wife, Elaine, at Word of Life Inn on August 10th, 1982.  They were married in Maine on August 10th, 1985.  Mark and Elaine have two grown daughters, Olivia and Diana.
